 The
FaroArm® device is a six-degree-of-freedom portable coordinate
measurement machine, CMM, with an articulating arm that is used to
precisely measure and inspect a physical prototype, or reverse engineer
a product. BioMx Consulting’s engineering staff presently utilizes the Gold
Version Unit with an accuracy of +/- 0.002 inches. With the aid of
Computer-Aided Manufacturing Measurement (CAM2) and Rhinoceros®
software, the BioMx Consulting staff utilizes the FARO® arm to reverse engineer
both simple parts and complex components. The resultant scanned images
are assembled into 3-dimensional electronic Computer-Aided Design
(CAD) models specific to the actual product under engineering investigation.
The FARO digitizing arm has enabled BioMx Consulting’s engineers to precisely
document component parts with specific application in automotive,
aerospace, water vessel and industrial environments with a very high
